The Day We Left Field / Art Installation
An immersive audiovisual installation inspired by the environment and its place in the urban landscape of modern cities. It is a piece of work through which the public becomes aware of a long list of binary oppositions, such as synthetic-natural, real-virtual or human-machine.
Immersive triple-screen audiovisual installation
Kwok’s Algorithmic Creatures based on finite subdivision, 1194D (vimeo.com/74877028) is an experiment on multiple geometric creatures co-existing within a tetrahedron-based grid environment. The project was improved and revised into an immersive triple-screen audiovisual installation.
The entire visual is programmed and generated using Processing (processing.org/). All stages are later composed and exported using Premiere. The soundtrack is mac os and windows (re:interpretation) by + (freemusicarchive.org/music/_2810/FugaYK/mac_os_and_windows_reinterpretation).
Infinity Virtual Space Installation
Developed as a part of ongoing research into light and space, Tiles of Virtual Space is an interactive immersive installation that transforms a finite space into a vast, endless expansion using light and sound. Infinity is intended as a space for reflection and self awareness. It is founded in an idea of a technology that is not distracting us from where we are but quite the opposite. Infinity reminds us that we are here, in the present moment, and that every step taken in any direction creates new ripples of light in time, building infinite structures of light that only can be seen by looking a bit further away than our own reflection.
FLOW immersive interactive installation
FLOW is an immersive interactive installation initially designed for the deep space 8k media display at ARS electronica http://export.aec.at/interplay/deep-space . Inspired by the natural phenomenon of the tides, the multimedia environment offers a sensory experience poetic, playful and aesthetic principles of the rise and fall of sea levels. It invites visitors to plunge into the fascinating world of science through interactive immersion. The multimedia space aims to create an intelligent data environment where various forms of information can be expressed in a dynamic representation and enhance the perception of the physical space. Outlines immersive experience
TUNDRA’s newest immersive experience is a large scale laser-beams installation which went unseen to public due to cancellation of Outline Festival in Moscow where it was initially planned to be exhibited. As it was specially created for this festival, we decided to name it OUTLINES. This word has a strong meaning in Russian representing the idea of stepping out of an initial grid and rising above the fundamentals by trespassing your imaginary boundaries.
Passage interactive installation
Passage is an immersive, minimalist, contemplative and interactive artwork that explores the emotional connections between light and sound. The concept takes root in the definition of the word passage itself: the act of moving through or past something on the way from one place to another, and also the process of transition from one state to another in a temporal dimension. The artwork is directly inspired by readings done on Near Death Experience (NDE).
Infinity immersive environment
Infinity’ is an immersive environment project by Refik Anadol. Project is an integral part of artist’s ongoing ‘Temporary Immersive Environment Experiments’ which is a research on audio/visual installations by using the state called immersion which is the state of consciousness where an immersant’s awareness of physical self is transformed by being surrounded in an engrossing environment; often artificial, creating a perception of presence in a non-physical world. In this project ‘infinity’ chosen as a concept,a radical effort to deconstruct the framework of this illusory space and transgress the normal boundaries of the viewing experience to set out to transform the conventional flat cinema projection screen into a three dimensional kinetic and architectonic space of visualisation by using contemporary algorithms. Light is the major element in the experiment, used to blur and interconnect the boundaries between the two realms actual/fictional and physical/virtual. It signifies the threshold between the simulacrum space created by the projection technology, and the physical space where the viewer stands. The experiments will discuss the inherent spatial qualities of immersive virtual environments and their effect on the embodied person. Through the presented framework, the experiments intends to question the relativity of perception and how it informs the apprehension of our surroundings. Rather than approaching the medium as a means of escape into some disembodied techno-utopian fantasy, projects sees itself as a means of return, i.e. facilitating a temporary release from our habitual perceptions and culturally biased assumptions about being in the world, to enable us, however momentarily, to perceive ourselves and the world around us freshly.
