Print and Projection Storytelling

Screen-printed illustrations spring to life when touched, as conductive ink triggers a host of playful digital animations – a mix of informative and charming content, from product information to brand stories to chasing ducks.

Pushing the boundaries of storytelling within a space, the installation makes it fun and engaging, putting ideas before hardware.

A total of 48 interactions and over 100 unique animations make up the broad spectrum of content on the stand, from simple sound toys to more complex exchanges that layer projection mapping and movement around a physical space.

Projection mapping using a laser projector of 30,000 pixels to analyze the characteristics of the exterior wall of the building. Pixi light installation

WERC created a digital organism, inspired by the complex patterns that exist in nature, such as flocks of birds and schools of fish. With Pixi, WERC wants to find out whether a technical natural phenomenon can imitate the complex aesthetics of nature, and whether the installation can interact with that nature. The Pixi was designed to be self-sufficient; able to survive in a natural environment. Pixies make their own choices, but they are also influenced by environmental factors from nature. Each Pixi contains a pulsating light. When we observe only a handful of Pixies, there are no discernible behavioural patterns. However, when we step back and look at them from a distance, the connections in the flock become clear and visible. A group intelligence arises that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Pixi is a light installation of Groningen based artist collective WERC, supported by the province of Drenthe (the Netherlands) commissioned by staatsbosbeheer.

Immersive triple-screen audiovisual installation

Kwok’s Algorithmic Creatures based on finite subdivision, 1194D (vimeo.com/74877028) is an experiment on multiple geometric creatures co-existing within a tetrahedron-based grid environment. The project was improved and revised into an immersive triple-screen audiovisual installation.

The entire visual is programmed and generated using Processing (processing.org/). All stages are later composed and exported using Premiere. The soundtrack is mac os and windows (re:interpretation) by + (freemusicarchive.org/music/_2810/FugaYK/mac_os_and_windows_reinterpretation).
